Area ski resorts expecting rain, then snow
With the exception of Mt. Baker, most of the forecasts for the region's ski resorts are calling for rain on Wednesday and Wednesday night before the snow -- and even some sunshine -- returns toward the weekend. Check the latest forecasts for Crystal Mountain, Mt. Baker, Alpental/Snoqualmie Summit and Stevens Pass. Check other Washington ski and boarding conditions here.
Vancouver Sun reports 2nd skier killed at Whistler
A 47-year-old Whistler resident died Christmas Eve after skiing into rocks at Whistler-Blackcomb resort, just two days after a teenage snowboarder perished in a similar way on the mountain.

Slowdown hits Whistler ahead of the Olympics
Despite being a year from hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics, Canada's Whistler ski resort is experiencing the same drop in business that has hurt ski resorts elsewhere.

Skiers delight: Northwest slopes will open today
All six major ski areas in Washington's Cascades will be open daily to skiing Friday, and Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia has reopened after a partial tower collapse Tuesday of one of its aerial trams.
